Wedge wire nozzles prevent the outflow of filter media,  activated carbon or sand and secure an even distribution of water at the same time.

Ion exchange units and  multimedia filters are often equipped with a distributor/collector. Trislot has extensive experience and expertise in designing the collector/distributor system for your needs. We can distinguish 2 types: a horizontal header with lateral connections or a central hub, installed vertically in the vessel with radial connections. The latter is usually used in smaller vessels. If you wish we can foresee a support construction or braces.

A resin trap or strainer serves to retain particles in a process flow. The quantity of the particles is in general very low so that cleaning can be done during flow interruption.

A resin trap is normally used to capture expensive resin that escapes from a treatment vessel by accident or to protect equipment further downstream.

A strainer is often used in tubes to block unwanted particles or dirt that would otherwise damage downstream equipment. Cleaning is carried out by removing the strainer from the tube.

Trislot’s ability to produce perfect roundness and tight tolerances in slot tubes, provides for a faultless interface between the screen surface and the rotating cleaning mechanism, be it a suction nozzle or brush.

During the filter cycle the solids are deposited on the smooth surface of the filter element. A “cake” is built up and acts as an extra filter for the finer particles. The fines that slip through, do not become lodged within the conical slots.

By reversing the flow, the cake and dirt are removed from the filter surface. This is the backwash cycle.

The most common flow used for the filter cycle is in to out.

A slot tube where the slot runs in the axial direction, with smooth surface on the inside can be cleaned by a suction plate, a scraper or by Bernoulli effect.

An air distribution system is positioned on the bottom of the vessel. The screens (employing the unique anti clogging characteristics of the V-wire profiles) are positioned on top of this and support the sand bed. Sand filtration is frequently used and is a very robust method to remove suspended solids from water. The filtration medium consists of a multi layered sand bed with a variety of sizes and specific gravities. When the sand bed is saturated with particles, the flow direction can be reversed and combined with a uniform air flow to agitate the sand bed and clean the filter.

Wedge wire screens are produced flat and are then curved to the desired angle and radius. If the customer desires, a tilt can be applied when welding the surface wires for extra dewatering  capacity.

Coanda screens

Coanda screens are  intake screens that are installed in a river or creek. They retain leaves, small branches etc. These wedge wire intake screens are common for hydro plants.

Cylindrical intake screens

While Coanda screens are installed just beneath the water surface, cylindrical intake screens are fully submerged.  They retain larger particles and water life floating in the river and protect pumps and installations further up the production line. The controlled lower slot velocity along the screen surface also reduces the likelihood of impingement and entrainment of marine life.

This type of intake screen also has the ability to be cleaned using an air backwash system whereby a controlled burst of compressed air is deployed.

The welded screen  consists of V- shaped surface profiles resistance welded onto support profiles

Electroformed nickel sheets are often used in fiber/starch extraction; however, they break easily. Trislot offers a perfect alternative to these sheets

These screens are an alternative to pressure screens for fiber washing, fiber dewatering and germ washing applications. They are also known as ICM or paddle screens.

Curved screens for waste water treatment and germ washing

To maintain the liquid fertilizer pool in farms as small as possible a separator is the answer. Over the years Trislot has built a vast experience in the manufacturing of cylinders used in screw presses. Screw presses are also used in biogas installations, food processing, spent grain dewatering, etc.

Land based aquaculture needs constant monitoring and filtering of the tank water. Curved wedge wire screens filter out feces and other contaminants that might unbalance the water composition. It is a preferred filter medium because of its low cost and ease of installation.

Automatic filter systems ensure  continuous cleaning of the seawater in the tank during transportation of live fish. Trislot supplies  wedge wire elements for these systems

As the tank water is constantly being circulated, there is a build-up of CO₂. Trislot ®wedge wire screens can be used to release the CO₂ from the water and add new oxygen. The water needs to flow at the right amount of time over the screen to allow the release CO₂. This can be obtained by adapting the open area.

In high volume metal working, coolant recuperation is essential. Flat screens are used in paper belt filters to support the paper belt that is the filter medium and that slides over the screen.  Trislot makes the screens directly as a flat shape. This results in superb flatness.

A case study with a false bottom of diam 2100 mm showed that the water consumption could be reduced significantly, and the filtration time was reduced by 1.5 hours compared to a false bottom of milled plate.

Nutsche filters are mostly equipped with bottoms in sintered laminates. In the pharmaceutical industry a different filter bottom  needs to be used for each different batch of product, this results in high costs. Wedge wire offers perfect cleanability compared to sintered mesh.

The same filter bottom can be used for different batches. Trislot has the know how and the capabilities required to manufacture these high precision elements.

The production of chocolate starts with cocoa beans which are dried, roasted and ground.  It’s during the grinding stage that our V-shaped screens are used. Wedge wire pressure leafs are used in the removal of calcium carbonate from sugar liquor. Pressure leafs require a large filter surface. Trislot is the only company world wide capable of producing screens with slots of 30 micron that are large enough for this application.

The flow of the process liquid or gas through the catalyst is from outside to the center of the reactor and vice versa. These reactor internals are employed for their high-volume flow capacity with minimal pressure drop.

Scallops

These are D-shaped screens manufactured from wedge wire screens. These scallops are positioned against the reactor wall by means of expander rings.

The internals for this type of reactors are chosen for their high ability to safely retain your expensive catalyst media from migration.
